Risk Valuation

Is your coverage aligned with the true value of your assets? We determine the real replacement value so that your protection matches what you own.

The starting point

Do you have the appropriate level of coverage?

At Arias y Asociados we determine precisely the level of coverage that corresponds to the real value of your assets, according to the needs of your operation.

The analysis protects the insured: it shows the gap between what is covered and what it would actually cost to replace each asset.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

About risk valuation

What is asset risk valuation?
It is the determination of the appropriate level of coverage for a company's assets, based on the real replacement value of each asset. Its purpose is to keep the company from being exposed through coverage that falls short of the effective value of its assets.
What happens if a company has insufficient coverage?
It is exposed: in the event of a loss, the difference between the insured value and the real value of the assets is a loss the company absorbs directly. An up-to-date replacement value analysis brings that gap to light before a loss occurs.
What is a valuation for insurance losses?
It is the analysis carried out after a loss to determine its amount, assess the damage and manage the corresponding settlement through a technical report that documents the actual scope of the loss.
How often should replacement value be updated?
The usual practice is to update it at each coverage renewal cycle. Replacement costs change over time, and an outdated value creates exposure without the company noticing.
What documentation is needed for a risk valuation?
Current policies, an inventory of the insured assets and, if available, prior claims history. With that, current coverage is compared against the real replacement value.
What happens if the insured value does not match the real replacement value?
It can mean the company is overpaying for excess coverage, or that it would be left unprotected in a real loss. Both scenarios are corrected by aligning the policy with the real value of the assets.
What is the difference between insured value and new replacement value?
Insured value is the amount agreed in the policy; new replacement value is what it would actually cost today to replace the asset. When the two diverge, the company overpays for coverage or is left exposed in a real loss.
How is the insurable value of an asset calculated?
It starts from the new replacement value of the asset and is adjusted according to the policy basis (replacement value or actual value). Defining that basis from the start sets the reference for settling a loss.
